BD 0612 - TDS
Ester-based lubricity additive that gives antioxidant and corrosion protection performance. Cleans metal surfaces. Can be emulsified or used in oil-based formulations.
BD 0612
---
This product was designed to provide superior lubricity in all types of environments. It is suitable for straight oil applications as well as emulsion formulations. BD 0612 is a complex blend of esters. The unique combination, resulting from many years of painstaking research and development, allows lubricity performance beyond other common lubricity additives. In fact, BD 0612 provides enough lubricity that its performance could be characterized as “extreme-pressure”. The product is tenaciously attracted to metal surfaces and provides an extremely strong lubricating film. This film can survive conditions under which traditional lubricants break down. The result is performance that mimics extreme pressure additives without the requirement for chlorine, sulfur, or phosphorus. The esters that compose BD 0612 are all naturally derived. The key component comes from wool processing and is new to the lubricant additive arena. The rest of the esters provide unique synergy to enhance the performance beyond any existing lubricity additive. The product is safe to handle and is environmentally friendly. Compared to other traditional EP additives, BD 0612 has another distinct advantage. Because the mechanism of its activity does not require that it chemically reacts with the metal, it does not have the depletion problem observed with many other additives. The only depletion that occurs is a minimal amount of drag out on chips or swarf that is a result of the high degree of surface activity demonstrated by the additive. BD 0612 does not thermally decompose under metalworking conditions so a smaller amount can be used in formulations. Typically formulators have to add more EP additive than is truly necessary to allow for depletion by decomposition of reactivity. With BD 0612 that approach is not necessary. In summary, BD 0612 is a safe, all-natural alternative for the formulation of high-performance metalworking fluids of all types. Lower treat rates, improved performance, and decreased disposal costs of used fluids are advantages that will be enjoyed by users of this product.
